FEDERAL TAX PROPOSALS
October 04, 2017
Fighting the Liberal tax proposals for small businesses, farmers, and professionals has been issue number one for the Conservative Caucus in Ottawa since returning to Parliament in September. For me, it has been issue number one since July 20th, two days after the draft legislation was released and I was alerted to the issue by a constituent in Olds. Since then, I have held roundtables and forums to hear from business owners and those who work for them. My office has received over 500 calls, emails, and letters to date on the issue and almost without exception – they are calling for the Liberals to slow down this attack on private enterprise.
As Conservatives we believe in raising people up, not dragging them down. We believe in the prosperity of all, not a select few. And we wake up every day and try to find new ways to lower taxes for Canadians.
The Conservative Party of Canada is the party of prosperity and we will fight to save local businesses, and the jobs they create. Our leader, Andrew Scheer, has launched the Save Local Businesses campaign, which will encourage Canadians to reach out and show their support to local businesses across the country.
Justin Trudeau’s policies hurt the very people he claims to help. Hurting local businesses that create jobs is dangerous to the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of Canadians. There’s nothing fair about that.
Unfortunately, the Liberals and NDP voted against our motion yesterday to extend consultations on the matter. They restricted committee study to six hours. Minister Morneau and Prime Minister Trudeau remain committed to creating a class conflict in order to provide more government revenues to prop up their out of control spending.
There is an alternative for Canadian taxpayers – a Conservative Party that respects local businesses and the jobs these business operators create.
Conservatives will continue to fight this tax hike every step of the way.
Sincerely your Member of Parliament,
Earl Dreeshen
