TSN ONLINE VOTES

July 09, 2009

The Red Deer Piper Creek Optimists have put in a submission on behalf of the Red Deer Boxing Association to Kraft Canada-TSN Celebration tour competition and I would like to ask you for your support on July 15 & 16 in making their dream a reality.

The Piper Creek Optimist Club serves youth in Central Alberta and they are collaborating with the Red Deer Boxing Association, which has over 100 youth members, in helping youth and disadvantaged youth in particular.  Participants grow personally through boxing and learn athleticism, physical and mental conditioning, sportsmanship, discipline and self-worth.  Many past participants have succeeded in local, provincial, national and Junior Olympic competitions.

If Red Deer wins, Kraft and TSN will award $25,000 to the Red Deer Boxing Association and the Piper Creek Optimists will match funds to help renovate the Red Deer Boxing Association’s facility and equipment. The Red Deer submission has been selected out of hundreds of other communities submission to be in the final top 20 round. Central Alberta will be competing directly against another community in Alberta for the prize.

Also, as a bonus, if our community wins this competition then Kraft and TSN will come to Red Deer and sponsor a community celebration in August.  The celebration will feature a TSN stage and Sports Centre broadcast set, family games, refreshments, a free Kraft BBQ and organized games such as street hockey, 3 on 3 basketball, soccer, softball or other activities. This would be a huge event for Red Deer and Central Alberta and would promote our Community on a National level.

In order for Red Deer Optimists and the Boxing Association submission to win they must receive more votes than the other community they are matched up against. You can log on to www.votereddeer.com and vote.  The internet voting will take place from 10:00 AM Wednesday July 15 until 10:00 AM Thursday July 16.  Voting is unlimited so please pass the word on to friends and family to log on and vote often.  We need you to vote to make this dream a reality.

Until next time. . .
